I often get asked by my friends "how can i get as in-shape or as built as you Andy?" Often times when i am asked this question i tend to overload my friends with the intricate details of my workout programming and what CrossFit is, all the while confusing and intimidating my hopeful convert. Today i was pondering my usual answer and i realized that it is right in front of me! That's right, my I Am CrossFit Shirt! If you are not familiar with Coach Glassman's definition of fitness then you will be soon. This is literaly the most simplified version of what the coaches at CrossFit Central and I do, with the only caveat is the intensity and motivation we bring to our workouts which can only be individual dependent. So here it is, fitness in 100 words or less:
- Eat meats and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat. Practice and train major lifts - deadlift, squat clean, presses, clean and jerk, and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics - pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc., hard and fast. Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Routine is the enemy. Keep workouts short and intense. Regularly learn and play new sports.
